Biology department is established in 1974. The department possesses six main divisions namely: Biotechnology, Botany, General Biology, Molecular Biology, Hydrobiology and Zoology. In the department, there are 31 academics, mostly full-professors. Department members have a large number of scientific studies published in national and international journals. The part of the scientificresearch is supportedby TUBİTAK and Dicle University Scientific Research Unit. Biology department has a number of research laboratories, including Molecular Biology Lab. General Biology lab Biotechnology lab and Botany lab, as well as two graduate teaching lab. As part of our mission, we aim to train undergraduates (BSc) that have the capacity to use project related knowledge and skills effectively or biological research and to lead the transformation of science and technology or the benefit of society and environment.

History
Biology department is established in 1974. The department possesses six main divisions namely: Biotechnology, Botany, General Biology, Molecular Biology, Hydrobiology and Zoology. In the department, there are 19 academics, mostly full-professors.

Qualification Awarded
The Bachelor's Degree in Biology is based on 240 ECTS of achievement. When the program is finished successfully and its qualifications are achieved, one will have degree of graduate in Department of Biology in Biology Science.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must satisfy the following qualifications specified in the D.Ü Bachelor's Degree Education requirements:
1-High School degree 2- YGS and LYS scores
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who successfully completed BSc can enter the MSc and PhD programs with the condition of minimum required scores from the ALES and from the English language (UDS, TOEFL, IELTS, KPDS, etc.) exams.
Graduation Requirements
To be able to have a bachelor’s degree in Biology, students are expected to successfully complete the required courses with 240 ECTS. Until the diplomas are prepared, students are given a “Temporary Graduation Certificate” on condition of returning while taking the diploma. This document and diplomas are signed by both Dean and Rector.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
BSc graduates will take their diplomas as “Graduates of Department of Biology”. They (BSc) can work in establishments related to Health Ministry, in private and state schools belong to Education Ministry, in private preparation schools, in research organisations, in laboratories, in Food, medical and agricultural industries, Medicine marketing, in National parks, Ministries of Food and Agriculture, Environment and Urbanism and Forest and Water as a researcher, biologist, teacher technical staff, staff of research and development. Quality control, and marketing Those with the pedagogical formation can work as teachers, as well as academics working in faculties or institutes.
Assessment and Grading
Attendance to at least 70% of the courses is mandatory. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and one final exam foreachcourse. Mid-termcontribution is 40% and final exam contribution is 60% for theoretical courses, while mid-term contribution is 60% and final exam contribution is 40% forpracticalcourses. The marks from homework, practice work, etc. can contribute to the midterm score. All exams are evaluated over 100 points.
